Please note Sidequest Wifi and wireless PCVR /SteamVR are two separate things.
If you want to set use wireless PCVR using Virtual Desktop, follow the below instructions.
Close all applications except Sidequest. Other applications like Oculus/ Virtual Desktop/ Steam use your device differently and can cause complications.
To set up Virtual Desktop to play SteamVR games wirelessly you need to do the following:
Is your device connected to the Sidequest Desktop Application? Can you see a green dot in the top left corner of Sidequest and the word ‘connected’?
If not:
Plug in your device and check the set up steps below, until you have a green dot and are connected in Sidequest you will not be able to install anything. https://sdq.st/setup

2. Buy Virtual desktop from the Oculus Quest store. https://www.oculus.com/deeplink/?action=view&path=app/2017050365004772&ref=oculus_desktop
3. Connect to Sidequest and sideload the Sidequest Virtual Desktop patch. https://sidequestvr.com/app/16/virtual-desktop-vr-patch
Select ‘Install to Headset’

4. In the Sidequest application check the Task Manager to see if the file installed successfully

5. Open the Virtual Desktop application in your Oculus headset from your Oculus library. If you have successfully patched Virtual Desktop you will see (sideloaded) beside the name in the bottom left corner.
If you do not see this, try the steps above again from the start.

You don't need Sidequest after that stage. You can disconnect from Sidequest and set up Virtual Desktop to play wireless PCVR.

Note:
If you have already installed the patch but it is asking you to update- please connect to Sidequest and follow the steps above to Install to Headset again.
You cannot install Sidequest on Shadow PC, it needs to be on your computer. Then you can set up Virtual Desktop.
Quick Tips:
You have to launch your VR games from the Games tab in the Virtual Desktop menu in VR. Oculus Rift games will appear in there. the good news is that you no longer need the patch! Virtual Desktop has now been updated to include this so simply update your app in your Oculus Library!
