Please read over some of the common issues with mobile app set up. If your issue is not here please let us know, we will continue to add to this list if we identify common issues.

  1. This app is for Android only. There is currently no support for Iphone, given the limitations presented by the operating system.

  2. Have you sign up as a developer and turned on developer mode for device?

    1. To allow installing apps & games to your headset we need to enable developer mode. To do this, you have to be a registered "developer" on the Oculus website. This process is free, quick and easy to setup. Go to dashboard.oculus.com on your PC and create an 'organization'. You'll be asked to accept the developer agreement.

    2. Now that you’re a "developer", open the Oculus app on your smartphone or tablet. In the Settings tab, tap on the headset and tap 'More settings'. In the list, you should now see Developer Mode. Once you have enabled developer mode it is a good idea to reboot your headset to be able to see it on the device.

  3. OTG - Please research your mobile device to see if OTG is available and learn how to enable it for your specific phone. Not all phones have OTG capability- the app will only tell you if it is detected on your device, it cannot tell you if it is enabled. Some devices may connect automatically, however some may require you to go into the settings and enable OTG. Please check how to do it for your specific phone model.

4. Enable wifi- you must have the device connected to your phone by cable before you click to Enable Wifi.

Note: If OTG is not available, then you will not be able to Enable Wifi- instead you need to connect your device to the Sidequest desktop app on a computer to get the IP address and add this manually to the app in order to connect. In this case you skip the Enable Wifi step and manually enter the IP to connect.

5. Click ‘Connect’ once wifi is enabled. It will not work of you do not Enable Wifi first.

Once the app tells you you are ‘connected’ you can then remove the cable and install wirelessly.

Note: Once you turn your headset off this will reset the connection. You will need to connect by cable again to re-enable. On some phones you may also need to enable OTG each time also.

You can only install apps that have a listing on Sidequest. There is no functionality for drag/drop or upload from device.

Backup is not possible on mobile. You will require the desktop application on a computer in order to use these additional features.
